The following packages are available for groups of 15 or more with the exception of Jailbreak which is offered for groups of 10-15 people.

    Salters Steamers

    See the city three ways with this fantastic new package, combining City Sightseeing, Oxford Castle Unlocked and Salter’s Steamers at a discounted rate.

    City Saver ticket is valid for 24 hours. Tours/cruise can be done in any order to fit around your itinerary.

  • City Sightseeing

    City Sightseeing (1)

    Take Oxford’s award-winning University and City Bus Tour and enjoy a tour of the 1,000 year old castle prison. Tickets can be purchased from the front desk at Oxford Castle Unlocked or from the City Sightseeing Office.

  • Salters Steamers

    Salters Steamers

    Oxford Castle Unlocked and Salters Steamers have partnered to launch a groups joint ticket, offering a historic tour of the 1000 year old castle prison followed by a sightseeing boat trip along the picturesque River Thames around Oxford.

    Choose from the following two options:

    FULL-DAY EXCURSION Groups can enjoy a tour of Oxford Castle Unlocked in the morning before taking a cruise down the Royal River Thames from Oxford to Abingdon. The Oxford-Abingdon cruise takes 2 hours and leaves daily at 2.30pm from May to September.
    Adults: £20, children: £13

    HALF-DAY EXCURSION A shorter cruise option with a 40 minute return River Experience (to Iffley Lock) is available for those with less time to explore the city. Enjoy your Oxford Castle Unlocked tour before or after your River Experience. Available every day from April to September with seven cruise time options throughout the day: 11:00, 12:30, 13:30,14:30, 15:30, 16:30 & 17:30.

    Please be aware that the full-day excursion is a single journey only. You will need to arrange your own way back into the city, or get your coach to pick you up from your destination.

  • Walk 'n' Tour

    A brand new ticket option for 2015! Groups can now enjoy a fascinating guided tour of Oxford Castle Unlocked, the city’s 1000 year old castle prison, before embarking on a walk with local historian and author Mark J. Davies to discover the historical and literary importance of some less-visited parts of the famous city of dreaming spires.

    There are a number of walks to choose from, which vary in distance and time span. All prices shown include a guided tour of Oxford Castle Unlocked.

    Choose your walk from the following subjects:

    OXFORD CANAL AND MILL STREAM WALK A circular walk with three length options: 1.5 miles (1 hour), 2 miles (90 minutes) or 2.5 miles (2 hours), taking in some of the oldest parts of Oxford, the River Thames and its side streams, including a lock of particular literary and strategic importance.

    DEATH MARCH A one hour ‘dead slow walk’ in the vicinity of the Castle on the theme of death: executions; drownings; bungled escapes; dissections; and resurrections. Tales of murderers; highwayman; gamblers; hangman; and bargeman, both real and fictional.

    ‘ALICE IN WONDERLAND’ WALK A one hour walk following the course of the partly underground Trill Mill Stream from near the Castle to Christ Church Meadow, via a glimpse of Paradise.

    WALK ON THE WELSH SIDE A 2 hour walk with reference to ‘sons of Cambria’ such as Geoffrey of Monmouth, Gerald of Wales, T.E. Lawrence, an incalculable number of Joneses, and Dylan Thomas. Passing from west to east, from pre-Roman to post-War, from the River Thames to the River Cherwell, from Oxford Castle to Magdalen College, expect tales of ‘rough and adventurous relaxations’, and of red dragons, red herrings and red faces.

  • Inspector Morse Tour

    Take a guided tour of the city’s 1000 year old castle prison before (or after) following in the footsteps of the city’s most celebrated TV detective, Inspector Morse.

    The Inspector Morse Tour is a two hour walking tour of Oxford, taking in the scenes of the best-known cases of Inspector Morse and his successor Lewis – both created by Oxford author Colin Dexter – accompanied with a collection of lively anecdotes.

    Not spending the whole day in Oxford or fancy something a little different to round off your day in the city? Why not try out our Afternoon Spooks groups package…

    3.00pm Enjoy a tour of Oxford Castle Unlocked – Scale the Saxon tower of St. George then delve into the depths of the atmospheric ancient crypt and explore the Georgian prison wing on a 40 minute guided tour. Learn about the spookier side of the 1000 year old site and the ghosts and ghouls that are rumoured to inhabit it…
    4.45pm Cream Tea at Café 1071 – Take a break from fun and frights and indulge in a cream tea at Café 1071. Enjoy a scone with jam and cream along with a lovely cup of tea to prepare for a thrilling ghost tour with Bill Spectre.
    6.30pm Bill Spectre Ghost Tour – Award winning Bill Spectre delivers a ghost walk to remember. Illustrated with props and illusions, Bill will entertain and horrify you as you navigate this historic city.   • Victorian Murder Mystery

    Murder-Mystery

    An intelligent alternative to run-of-the-mill activities. Collecting clues and interrogating inmates will require co-operation and creativity. Guests will need to choose their allies carefully as traps and tricks are more common than the truth among criminals.

    About your Murder Mystery Evening 
    Arrive at the attraction to be met by your hosts before the Mystery begins.
    Share a glass of wine with your fellow guests as you hear the tale of the evening.
    Explore the prison, listen for the clues and enjoy unravelling the murder.

    Spooky-Tour

    Discover the sinister side of the castle and its residents held here by delving into the darker side of its history. Your tour will take you to the most haunted areas of the Castle site including the 900 year old underground Crypt.

    • Climb the Saxon St George’s Tower, one of the oldest buildings in Oxford, and enjoy its stunning 360° panoramic views over the historic city of Oxford.
    • Descend deep underground into the dark atmosphere of the 900 year old crypt, the only surviving remains of St. George’s Chapel.
    • Explore the austere confines of the 18th century Debtors’ Tower and Prison D-Wing.
